Even if you didn’t watch the last debate between presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, you probably heard all about locker-room talk.
Locker-room talk is how Trump described the recently leaked video of him and Billy Bush back in 2005. Bush, a former entertainment correspondent for Access Hollywood, was tasked with interviewing Trump at the time.
On the tape, Trump can be heard waxing unpoetically about seducing women. Bush is heard laughing along and adding his own … insight. Both men spoke explicitly about women’s attitudes and physical attributes and how easy it is to seduce them. Trump, of course, had the most … wisdom … to impart. Needless to say, the nation is up and arms.
Locker-Room Talk: “I’ll admit it. I did try and f*ck her. She was married.”
While many guys can admit to putting the moves on someone, not everyone has tried with a married individual. Nor have they bragged about it like Trump. But rest assured, if you tried to make moves on a married woman in today’s day and age—and bragged about it to your friends—someone would find out about it.
Locker-Room Talk: “I’m automatically attracted to beautiful… I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything.”
Plenty of guys—especially successful ones—have benefitted from Trump’s method of operation. But that doesn’t make it right. The fact that he’s forcing himself on a woman each time is no reason to brag. While it’s not rape, it’s disgusting, and it could land you in hot water if you attempted likewise.
Locker-Room Talk: “Grab them by the p*ssy. You can do anything.”
Trump has been accused of being many things: a bully, a baby, a misogynist, a racist, etc. What this Access Hollywood tape demonstrates is his sexism as well as his sense of entitlement. Plenty of people have no problem with the man. In my opinion, they should. But this is not a political article. This is one about acting like an adult. A mature adult. A decent adult. Trump’s “locker-room talk” as he called it may have been just that: locker-room talk. But that kind of behavior in your late fifties?! Come on. Grow up.
Both Trump and Bush are—and were at the time of the interview—grown men. Not two party-hardy frat boys.
Why you should refrain from locker-room talk.
Yes, Trump and Bush were recorded on the set of a television show. Yes, that’s highly unlikely to happen to you—but this is a new age. An age where cell phones are everywhere and apps for iPhone and Android can do whatever you want. Anything that you say or do could be recorded. And it could be shared with the world instantly on the Internet—where it lives forever! That’s why it’s important to always carry yourself like an adult, and make sure that you hold your children and employees to the same higher standard.
A mobile spy app can prevent locker-room talk.
The best way to make certain that your kids and workers aren’t acting inappropriately is to install a quality cell phone tracking software on their phones. If you’ve given a smartphone to your son, you can monitor him from afar. You can make sure he’s not mistreating girls on Facebook or Twitter and acting like a Trump.
If you’ve entrusted iPhones to your employees in order to do their jobs, you can see what they are doing during the day … and night. Use it to make sure they aren’t sexting girls or making inappropriate comments on social media.
Protect yourself from a lifetime of embarrassment by installing a good mobile spyapp on every phone you give out. By doing so, you’ll help boys and men of this generation step out of the locker-room, clean on the outside … as well as on the in.
