On September 12, 2017, Apple held its special event which was live streamed online on their site. During this event, they announced the many new things that are coming from Apple. This year is especially special as they just celebrated the iPhone’s 10th Anniversary. Here is everything you need to know about the Apple Event.
The new Apple Park is officially opening later this year. The Apple Event was held in the Steve Jobs’s Theater in Apple Park. This park embodies Steve Jobs vision of it and being the workplace of the future. It will be powered by 100% renewable energy and will not just be for Apple employees, but visitors as well. In the park, there will be an Apple retail store and a visitors center. Click here for a look at it!
The major announcement in Apple retail is that in major cities and flagship stores, their stores will now be called, Town Squares. They want to create an environment that both customers and professionals can learn, be creative, and relax. They are making these Town Squares across the world from Paris to the New York City’s 5th Avenue location (glass cube included).
Apple Watch Series 3
The newest Apple Watch will be the Series 3. From last year, the Apple Watch had a 50% year-over-growth and is now the #1 watch in the world! This watch will officially be released on September 19th!
On the fitness side of the watch, new features include:
- Smart coaching
- Workout app with high-intensity training
- Easy access to your heart rate and notifications when it’s elevated
With this, Apple announced the Apple Heart Study in partnership with Stanford Medical. Apple will use heart rate data from their watches for the study.
On the appearance side, the watch will:
- Be the same size as the Series 2 Apple Watch
- New Sport Loop band option that is breathable and light
- New character watch faces such as Buzz Lightyear
The MAJOR announcement with this Apple Watch is that it will be cellular! Users will be able to make phone calls, get directions, use messaging apps like WeChat, and listen to Apple music! This is the first watch to go cellular!
Apple TV 4K
Apple has now created the Apple TV 4K. This tv uses HDR (High Dynamic Range) which helps make image colors “pop” and makes the picture quality crisp and sharp. Besides the normal streaming services, you now can watch sport games live such as those on ESPN.
iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X

With this phone, the major change is the addition of Augmented Reality capabilities. The phone is built with hardware and software for AR, has a camera calibrated for AR, and accurate motion tracking. They showed an example of some AR apps including an MLB app that users can utilize at an actual game to see information on the players.
